Channel Personalities pit their wits on the course |
Minutes and handsets were swapped for clubs and tees as a host of telecoms personalities gathered for a Nelson communication company's annual golf day.
More than 60 of fixed line provider Daisy Communications' business and reseller partners, as well as family and friends, were invited to Clitheroe Golf Club for a day that comprised of 27 holes, some fine food, and a little bit of business talk.![]() The day began with one of the day's main sponsors being auctioned off as a caddy for the duration of the day's activities. And after enjoying a hearty breakfast there followed a day of sunshine, bunkers and much walking as teams pitted their wits against each other on a four mile golfing circuit around the prestigious golf course. A total of 15 teams took part in the event, each led by a daisy member of staff. As well as overall team performance, competition was rife for longest drive, nearest to the pin, beat the pro and best individual performance. There was also the awarding of the obligatory wooden spoon for the day's worst performer. The event, sponsored by Cable and Wireless, Griffin, Opal and Tempest, went on well into the evening when guests enjoyed a meal and a prize giving for awards that had been hotly contested throughout the day. Prizes included top of the range golfing equipment, clothing and trophies. daisy CEO Matthew Riley said: "It is nice for everyone to get out of the office and converge on a day like this. Everyone had fun but it was also an opportunity for some of daisy's friends and colleagues to network with one another and be rewarded with what proved to be a fantastic day out. "It's important that business is valued and while we all had a good time the day was a just reward for all those associated with daisy who contribute to making the company the success it is." He also thanked the sponsors for their support on the day. |
