daisy raises a wedge for cancer charities
|
After showing group solidarity and some naked ambition, daisy has raised more than £1,200 for charity.
At the end of 2007 staff at the firm stripped off to take part in a calendar to raise money for charity.
And as the daisy sexes joined forces, it was decided that half of all donations would go to the cancer charity Everyman, which funds research to cross out prostate and testicular cancer, and half to the female charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Now, following two months of hard selling from members of staff and some local firms, the company has now been able to split the proceeds and will present £600 to both charities.
daisy employees have never been adverse to a spot of fundraising, so it was little surprise that 50 members of staff leapt at the chance to take their clothes off without the need for coercion.
And the company's commercial director Tony Dixon was very proud of what was achieved through the project.
"It was great for so many individuals to take such a step outside of their comfort zone," he said.
"We have raised money for a very worthwhile cause, particularly as the charities involved hold resonance for a number of people that work at daisy, and that is testament to the fantastic people we have at the company."
daisy would also like to thank The Thatch & Thistle pub, Eyre & Elliston Electrical Distributors, Hartley's Farm Foods and Backhouse Insurance Company, for their efforts in helping to sell the calendar.
