daisy rewards top staff with trips abroad

Two members of staff from daisy are packing for their holidays after triumphing in the company's prestigious employee awards.

Sales adviser Mike Smith and public relations executive Katharine Butler were awarded sales person and employee of the year, in the telecom firm's end of year presentation.
Mike was the company's top sales person during 2007, and after smashing his targets consistently throughout the year he was presented with two return tickets to New Zealand, allowing him to visit his son who emigrated to the country last year.

PR executive Katharine was awarded the accolade of employee of the year and she was awarded with a skiing holiday to France and £500 spending money.

The company's commercial director Tony Dixon said: "The employee and sales person of the year awards have been running since the company's inception in 2001 and what better to reward a loyal and hardworking staff base?

"At Daisy we believe in the old fashioned style of properly rewarding your employees. I think it is something that is sorely missed in a lot of companies and it is something we are keen to promote here. The directors and I think an awful lot about the people who work for us and we see such rewards as true recognition for consistent hard work."

Speaking on winning the award, Mike said: "I am not usually the kind of person that is lost for words, but on this occasion I really was taken aback. I have never had as many emails and handshakes after receiving the award and can't wait to see my son later this year."

Katharine added: "I was really overwhelmed to have won the award and didn't expect it for one minute, but obviously I'm over the moon to receive such recognition for the work I do.

"I'm looking forward to getting away for a New Year's break, spending some time on the slopes and seeing a bit of snow!"

Important changes to 0870

The UK's communications regulator Ofcom predicts it will be post-summer when changes are made to the regulations for 0870 numbers. The change, which was originally set to take place on February 1st, was delayed due to concerns about pre-call announcements which might interfere with some services. Ofcom is still in the process of drafting a consultation setting out revised proposals which it hopes to publish in the next few weeks. Once complete, the consultation will be issued and people will have six weeks to comment on it. Ofcom will then consider the responses and publish a policy statement setting out its decision. Ofcom will give further guidance on the implementation timetable in the policy consultation; however it looks likely that the changes would not be introduced until the summer at the earliest.
