daisy Staff given dream ticket to Spain

daisy is quickly gaining a reputation as "the" company to work for after taking its employees on holiday to Spain.

At the weekend 25 lucky staff from the firm were whisked off to the millionaire's playground of Puerto Banus for three days of sun, sea and sangria, as well as fine food and a bit of dolphin spotting. The trip was a reward for staff who hit targets for the company's sales incentive, launched at the beginning of the new financial year.

Chief Executive Officer Matthew Riley decided to set the sales team the target at the beginning of April and present the Daisy staff with a reward they weren't likely to forget in a hurry.

"We wanted to really give the staff something to work towards", he said. "I think the old fashioned style of properly rewarding your employees when they have worked hard is sorely missed in a lot of companies and it is something we are keen to promote here.

"The directors and I think an awful lot about the people who work for us and we saw the Spain incentive as a worthy reward and recognition for consistent hard work."

Throughout the months of April, May and June all those involved in the incentive were given updates and teasers in the form of suntan lotion, cocktails, beach balls and Spanish phrase books. An area of the office was also decked out to look like a scene from "Baywatch", serving as a constant reminder of the reward that awaited.

And after smashing the targets set out, true to Riley's word, the staff were booked in for three nights of Mediterranean sunshine.

On the back of the incentive's success, the company has another incentive up its sleeve, but is keeping the cards very close to its chest.

Riley added: "daisy is a fun place to work and we are always looking to recruit more people from the Pendle area who want to join the company, work hard and take advantage of this kind of thing. There are definitely more opportunities like this in the pipeline."

Important changes to 0870

The UK's communications regulator Ofcom predicts it will be post-summer when changes are made to the regulations for 0870 numbers. The change, which was originally set to take place on February 1st, was delayed due to concerns about pre-call announcements which might interfere with some services. Ofcom is still in the process of drafting a consultation setting out revised proposals which it hopes to publish in the next few weeks. Once complete, the consultation will be issued and people will have six weeks to comment on it. Ofcom will then consider the responses and publish a policy statement setting out its decision. Ofcom will give further guidance on the implementation timetable in the policy consultation; however it looks likely that the changes would not be introduced until the summer at the earliest.
